Why is it that I keep seeing the Conservative party referred to as neo-con (neoconservative)? When I studied political science, the one thing that stuck was ...a neoconservative is a "liberal mugged by reality," one who became more conservative after seeing the results of liberal policies. ... three distinctive aspects of neoconservatism from previous forms of conservatism: a forward-looking approach drawn from their liberal heritage, rather than the reactionary and dour approach of previous conservatives; a meliorative outlook, proposing alternate reforms rather than simply attacking social liberal reforms; taking philosophical or ideological ideas very seriously... Crediting the Conservatives as being neoconservative is just plain wrong. If we concede the fact that they are moving further right, the next stop would be fascism. There is nothing "new" about these conservatives so stop putting "neo" on their political idealism, please.
